Data and Media Formats for the Veris
by Mail SSN Validation Service
If you will be sending a file to us for processing please read the following
which describes the data and media formats you may use. We prefer to receive
your data via e-mail since it is the fastest and generally the easiest way
for you to take advantage of the Veris services. Normally, e-mailed files are
received, processed and returned within the same day and will be encrypted,
for maximum security.
Other media you may use are diskette and CD-ROM.Contact us for address to
use if you will be using a package service other than the U.S.Postal Service.
Regardless of the media you use, ALL FILES MUST BE IN ASCII FORMAT. If your
file is sent to us in a fielded Excel database we will export it in the format
needed so you need not be concerned with the formatting options described below.
Each record must contain at least a social security number. For the most accurate
and thorough report, we recommend that your data include a date of birth for
each social security number. You may have whatever other fields and information
you wish up to 4096 bytes per record.
If your data contains more than a SSN and date of birth, it may be laid out
in any order, but you must tell us where in the records the SSN and date of
birth occur. Following is a detailed explanation of some of the options you
may use when sending us records. The record used as an example here has five
fields:
1. An account code of 5 characters
2. SSN of nine or eleven characters (######### OR ###-##-####)
3. Date of birth (mm/dd/yy OR mmddyy OR mm/dd/ccyy OR mmddccyy)
4. Name
5. Name (first and last name appear as two fields since a space, comma, tab
or comma and quotes is used between them)
Space Delimited:
Variable length record 4096 bytes maximum.
Please note: a space delimits a new field so there can be no spaces within
fields.
Three examples of same record:

A1234 001-01-0001 04/15/1902 Grace Muzzy
